In an interview with Francisco Bravo, supply chain director for Audi Mexico, significant data is revealed regarding the key role Audi Mexico plays in the brand’s global strategy and the technological and environmental advancements it’s driving. Francisco boasts extensive experience of 28 years within the Volkswagen Group, focusing on business innovation and commercial processes through technology, process reengineering, and organizational change. He holds solid expertise in IT, logistics, and manufacturing processes within the VW Group. He has implemented information technology in new factories or transformed entire IT platforms for existing factories in various countries, including Malaysia, Argentina, and the United States. Having lived and studied in the United States, Germany, and Mexico, Francisco has built multicultural and multifunctional teams. As an entrepreneur, he co-founded Blonic.com in Spain. His professional experience includes prominent roles at Audi Mexico S.A. de C.V. and Volkswagen AG, covering areas such as IT, program planning, production control, vehicle logistics, information systems, and logistical processes. In summary, he’s a leader with a solid track record in the automotive industry, experienced in leading business transformation through technology and processes, as well as in managing global teams and making strategic decisions.

Regarding the strategic importance of Audi Mexico, the plant plays a crucial role in the brand’s global strategy, being responsible for the production and exportation of models like the Q5,  Q5 Sportback worldwide and CKD export to China. Additionally, thanks to Mexico’s geographical location and trade agreements, Audi Mexico becomes a strategic hub for the global supply chain. Audi Mexico has a focus on local and regional suppliers, allowing for improved efficiency and stability in its supply chain. This strategy benefits both production and costs, providing flexibility to adapt to international market demands in a timely manner. The Audi Mexico plant stands out for its modernization and adoption of cutting-edge technologies and processes from the brand’s European plants. The implementation of modern systems and efficient processes ensures an optimized supply chain and agile production to meet market demands. In terms of sustainability, Audi Mexico positions itself as a leader, with over 130 ongoing projects aimed at reducing its environmental footprint. On another note, the Volkswagen Group’s Decarbonization Index (DCI) captures the average carbon and carbon equivalent emissions throughout the entire lifecycle of Audi’s passenger car range. It includes both direct and indirect carbon emissions from individual production sites, as well as all other direct and indirect carbon emissions generated in the vehicles’ lifecycle. Audi implemented the “Act4Impact” program with over 14,000 business partners in 60 countries to promote exchange, networking, and knowledge transfer to make its supply chain more sustainable.
